The fourth -- and according to Dreamworks, final -- chapter in the Shrek saga finds the titular green ogre growing weary of his dull domestic routine with wife Fiona (Diaz) and their infant brood. Nostalgic for the carefree days of yesteryear, when every creature in the village feared his wrath, he enters into a pact with a shifty con artist, Rumpelstiltskin, to re-live just one day of his glorious youth, only to end up trapped in a nightmarish alternate world.

What We Think: The Shrek franchise started to lose steam somewhere in the third act of Shrek 2, so we’re not necessarily devastated to see it end -- especially since Puss in Boots, the first of several inevitable spin-offs, rolls off the Dreamworks assembly line in 2011..

Cool to Know: Shrek Forever After is the first film in the franchise to be produced in 3D. Dreamworks has also announced plans to re-release its three predecessors in 3D as well. Which, admittedly, isn’t really all that cool.
