Over a decade after the release of Toy Story 2, Pixar adds a new chapter to the blockbuster animated franchise that launched its now-dominant brand in 1995. After their owner, Andy, leaves for college, toys Woody (Hanks), Buzz (Allen) and their anthropomorphic pals are shipped off to a day-care center, where they face a host of new perils.

What We Think: Normally we cringe at the prospect of a studio going back to the well and resurrecting such a long-dormant franchise, but this is Pixar we’re talking about. We don’t even have to think twice about this one.

Cool to Know: Director Unkrich got his start at Pixar as an editor on the first Toy Story, about the same time his release-date competition, Jonah Hex director Jimmy Hayward, began working at the studio.
