1939: Hollywood's Greatest Year – 10/9c on TCM

Back during the Golden Age of Hollywood, the movie biz wasn’t measured by quantity (of dollars made) but rather quality, thus explaining why 1939, which birthed a quintuplet of absolute classics, is widely considered Hollywood’s greatest year instead of a ridiculously lucrative year like 2007 (aka the Summer of Threequels). Turner Classic Movies takes a look back, and rightfully so, at the year that gave us Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Mr. Smith Goes to WashingtonNinotchka and Stagecoach.

ALSO...

The Daily Show With Jon Stewart – 11/10c on Comedy Central
For the relative few (including yours truly) who have seen the disturbing documentary Food, Inc., tonight’s Daily Show is especially a must-watch, because director Robert Kenner stops by to gross us out a little more with the truth about food. You do NOT want to watch it while shoveling handfuls of that “buttered” popcorn into your mouth -- let’s just say that. Actually, you may swear off food altogether if his appearance is anything like the movie. Be sure to tune in!

So You Think You Can Dance – 9/8c on Fox
Kelly Clarkson performs "I Do Not Hook Up" on tonight's show, offering yet another reason to either watch or not watch as two of the remaining 14 contestants are sent packing.
