22 Jump Street on a high at U.K. box office

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are riding high on both sides of the Atlantic after topping the U.K. box office chart for a second consecutive weekend with cop comedy 22 Jump Street. The film scored a successful opening in the U.S. after debuting with $60 million (£38 million) on Sunday (15Jun14), and it also topped the U.K. box office on its second weekend of release (13-16Jun14) by bringing in $3.7 million (£2.3 million).
Angelina Jolie’s Disney adventure Maleficent came in second place with $2.6 million (£1.6 million) ahead of comic book blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past in third with $1.4 million (£902,146).
The top five is rounded out by Tom Cruise’s sci-fi thriller Edge of Tomorrow ($1.2 million/£744,496) at four and horror movie Oculus ($661,725/£413,578), which was a new entry at five.
