A Tribe Called Quest release capsule collection in memory of Phife Dawg

Hip-hop veterans A Tribe Called Quest marked what would have been late rapper Phife Dawg’s 47th birthday on Monday (20Nov17) by releasing a new capsule clothing collection.
The Can I Kick It? legends recently teamed up with designers at fashion brand Thread Shop to create the limited line, which they first debuted at the ComplexCon music and culture festival in California earlier this month (Nov17).
They have since launched the range online, with items including a yellow T-shirt with ‘Beats, Rhymes + Life’ across the chest, a nod to their classic 1996 album, and a bright yellow/green hooded sweatshirt printed with ‘Phife’ in large letters and a stick figure with a halo, an image which also features on a black trucker cap.
Phife, real name Malik Izaak Taylor, passed away in March, 2016 after a long battle with diabetes. He was 45.
Following his death, remaining members Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi White announced their tour supporting their final album, We Got It from Here…Thank You 4 Your Service, would be their last as A Tribe Called Quest.
They bid farewell to fans with their final performance together at Britain’s Bestival event in September (17), which included a sombre salute to Phife.
