A$AP Rocky Has Yet to Properly Grieve A$AP Yams’ Death

Rapper A$Ap Rocky has been dealing with the tragic passing of his longtime collaborator and associate A$Ap Yams by throwing himself into his work.

The hip-hop star was left devastated by the loss of YAMS, the founder of their A$AP Mob group, after he died from acute mixed drug intoxication in January, 2015, but Rocky has avoided properly grieving his pal’s passing because he fears letting himself go emotionally will be too much to handle.

Asked if he had taken the time to grieve or simply kept working in the aftermath of YAMS‘ death, Rocky told GQ Style, “Keep working. I’m not gonna lie. Because if we grieve it, it might take everything out of us.”

Rocky previously admitted he was aware of YAMS‘ struggle with substance abuse.

“He always had a struggle with drugs. That was his thing,” he told The New York Times in 2015.

The rapper also revealed he once discovered YAMS unconscious on a bed in his Brooklyn, New York apartment.

“I just look at his face… You could just tell (it was drugs),” he said. “I was scared. I was wilding (getting upset) on everybody, like, ‘Who let him do drugs?’, even though you can’t blame nobody (sic).”
