Northern Irish actor Gerard Murphy has died at the age of 64. Murphy lost his battle with prostate cancer at his home in England on Monday (25Aug13).
Starting his career in regional theatre in Scotland, Murphy went on to appear in hit U.K. TV dramas such as Z Cars, Doctor Who and Minder. He also starred in hit Irish comedy Father Ted.
He went on to appear opposite Kevin Costner and Dennis Hopper in Waterworld, and alongside Christian Bale in Batman Begins.
Murphy also enjoyed a successful career onstage, taking over Richard Griffiths role of Hector in The History Boys.
