Actor Marco de la O cast as drug lord El Chapo in TV series

Actor Marco De La O will portray the drug lord Sean Penn interviewed for Rolling Stone while he was on the run from Mexican authorities in a new TV series.
El Chapo will centre on the recaptured fugitive, real name Joaquin Guzman. It will premiere next next month (Apr17).
Other cast members include Humberto Busto as Attorney Conrado Sol, Juan Carlos Olivas as El Chapo’s partner El Guero and Alejandro Aguilar as assassin Tono.
The series will air on Univision and streaming service Netflix.
Guzman was extradited to the U.S. earlier this year (17). The Sinaloa cartel boss spent the year following his recapture locked up near the northern border city of Ciudad Juarez.
He was picked up by police a day after Penn’s Rolling Stone article was published online. The movie star and director sat down with El Chapo in his jungle hide-out, months after he broke out of prison in 2015.
El Chapo is not the only project about the drug lord in the works. Sony Pictures bosses are hoping to option the rights to the book Hunting El Chapo: The Thrilling Inside Story of The American Lawman Who Captured The World’s Most-Wanted Drug Lord.
Narcos writer Chris Brancato is also working on developing #Cartel, a drama series based on El Chapo’s life, according to TheWrap.com.
