Adam Lambert joins American Idol as celebrity mentor

Adam Lambert is returning to U.S. talent show American Idol as a mentor for contestants during a week dedicated to rock icons Queen.
Competition bosses are paying tribute to the British band, previously fronted by the late Freddie Mercury, and on 28 April (19), each of the top eight contestants will perform a song by the stars, after being mentored by 37-year-old Lambert.
The singer, who was the runner-up on the eighth season of Idol, has been touring as the guest frontman of Queen since 2011.
During his audition on the show in 2009, he performed Bohemian Rhapsody, and he later joined forces with the surviving group members in the season finale.
Lambert will also be hitting the stage for this year’s Idol season 17 finale on 19 May (19).
