Adam Levine feared he would soil himself while his wife Behati Prinsloo was giving birth to their first child because he desperately needed to use the bathroom.
The Maroon 5 frontman is expecting his second child with the Victoria’s Secret model later this year, and he will know what to do in preparation for the birth the second time around after learning from his mistakes when his daughter Dusty Rose was born in September 2016.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night (18Jan18), Adam revealed that he had received advice from talk show host Carson Daly, who warned him to eat before heading to the hospital as many expectant fathers faint in the delivery room.
Adam took his suggestion too seriously and gorged himself on food beforehand, but it ended up leaving him in serious pain.
“We finally go to the hospital, I’ve put back an unbelievable amount of food. I’m like basically bursting at the seams, I’m gonna s**t my pants at some point,” he said. “Also, my wife is in labour and it’s the lamest thing to be when your wife is going to be having a baby and you’re like, ‘I got to take a s**t.’ That’s not, in any way, a viable complaint.
“So, you got to keep it inside, literally and figuratively. I was like, ‘S**t, I’m just gonna wait this out.’ I couldn’t go to the bathroom and come back and the baby’s out and I missed the whole thing. It was brutal.”
Adam ended up doubled over in pain while he was waiting for his baby to be born, and as soon as he checked mother and child were all healthy, he refocused on his bathroom emergency.
“And the second the coast was clear, my wife’s good, she’s healthy, everyone’s happy, I took one of the nurses aside and I was like, ‘Look you gotta find me a bathroom,'” he recalled. “And she’s like, ‘Well, there’s one right here,’ and it was like at the foot of the bed.”
Adam, 38, and Behati, who married in 2014, announced in September (17) they were expecting a second child, a sister for Dusty Rose.
