Adam Scott was left speechless when his idol Mark Hamill surprised him on live TV on Star Wars Day (May the Fourth).

The Big Little Lies actor appeared on talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday night (04May17), where guest host Kristen Bell quizzed him on his obsession with the science fantasy franchise.

Recalling one of his earliest memories, Adam took a trip down memory lane when telling a story of how he invited actor Mark, who plays Jedi Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films, to his birthday party, admitting: “I thought at least, if he got (the letter), and he was able to, if his schedule was clear, he was probably gonna come.”

Sadly Mark didn’t rock up to the occasion and while Adam insisted he wasn’t “crushed” by the no-show, what Kristen didn’t let on was that she’d organized a surprise for him.

As the franchise’s famous opening score started to play on set Adam couldn’t hide his shock as Mark appeared with a lightsaber in tow, showing off some of his moves.

“No. No way. No f**king way!” Adam exclaimed as the actor approached him, gifting him with the mock weapon and hugging him.

“Happy belated birthday!” he told his famous fan. “I’m sorry I missed your birthday. I was checking my diary, and that week I had two other birthdays, a bar mitzvah, and a supermarket opening.”

Still blown away by Mark’s presence, Adam noted: “This really is one of the best moments of my life. It really is.”

This came after the 65-year-old recently gave diehard followers the surprise of their lives when interrupting them acting out some of their favorite scenes from the Star Wars. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first film, A New Hope, and to celebrate Mark has set up a competition for someone to join him for lunch in Los Angeles and attend a special screening of the movie, raising money for Starlight Children’s Foundation and UNICEF on behalf of Star Wars: Force for Change.
