Adele invited a fan to sing onstage with her on Tuesday night (09Aug16), unaware she was a Grammy-nominated singer.
The Hello star was performing at the Staples Center in Los Angeles when she invited fan Jamie Grace onstage and gave her the opportunity to sing solo in front of the sold-out crowd, like she often does when on tour.
However, Adele seemed to have no idea Jamie Grace was a recording artist from Atlanta, Georgia, who was nominated for a Grammy for best contemporary Christian song in 2012 for her track Hold Me.
Jamie, 24, began singing a rendition of Adele’s Remedy but forgot the words so Adele helped her out and after the Brit told her she could sing something by a different artist, Jamie belts out a version of Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love With You.
An impressed Adele told Jamie she was “amazing” and she would check her out on YouTube, according to a video clip posted on Jamie’s Facebook page.
Jamie, who flew across the U.S. to see the singer, told the Atlanta Journal Constitution the “moment is such a big part of my life now” and she is still processing it.
“(Tuesday) was the most overwhelming day in the best possible way,” she said.
