Adrien Brody joins Peaky Blinders

Adrien Brody has joined the cast of Peaky Blinders for the fourth season.
The hit BBC show, about gangster boss Thomas Shelby and his violent crew, already boasts an A-list cast with Cillian Murphy playing Thomas, Tom Hardy as rival gangster Alfie Solomons and Helen McCrory as Shelby matriarch Polly, not to mention former stars Sam Neill and Annabelle Wallis.
The Birmingham-based drama will be set in the mid-’20s, a period between the wars in England, with all the top billed cast returning for round four.
Adrien’s character is being kept under wraps for now, but the actor shared a shot of himself on set to his fans on Instagram.
“Uh oh, here’s a sneaky peaky of me being cheeky… very excited to come and play with the immensely talented gang @thepeakyblinder @BBCTwo #peakyblinders,” he captioned the image.
Creator Steven Knight shared his joy at casting Oscar-winning actor Adrien in the new season of the show, set for release later in 2017.
“It’s fantastic to have Adrien join our team. He genuinely was the actor in my head when I wrote the part. I’m sure he will be a formidable presence in the world of the Peaky Blinders,” Steven said in a statement.
Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama, added: “Adrien Brody is a world-class actor famous for producing mesmerising performances. I cannot wait to see him in action alongside the rest of Peaky Blinders’ superb cast, bringing Steven Knight’s extraordinary writing to life on BBC Two.”
Filming for the fourth season kicked off in Liverpool, England, earlier this week (beg20Mar17).
As well as showing on the BBC, Peaky Blinders will also be available for viewing on Netflix not long after the series has screened in the U.K.
