Alec Baldwin: ‘Tina Fey was exhausted by the end of 30 Rock run’

Alec Baldwin knew his time on hit comedy 30 Rock was up when show creator Tina Fey arrived exhausted to set one day.
The actor had already agreed the show’s sixth season would be the last, but the writing was so good he pushed for another three runs.
Speaking to Sarah Jessica Parker on the latest episode of his TV talk show, Alec explained, “Season one was this developmental thing and season two, we get a lot of response, and then season three and four we win every award there is to be given, and then season five, everybody agreed, was just the most anaemic writing-wise.
“And then we all come back, thinking, ‘Let’s just do six and get outta here’, and six comes and it’s a renaissance… I turn around and say, ‘Let’s sign on for seven, eight, nine… How can I live without this?’
“But she (Fey) was tired, because she had her second kid… When Tina Fey came in to rehearse one morning and laid down on the couch I knew we were done.”
