Alec Baldwin will take over as host of Turner Classic Movies’ The Essentials following Robert Osborne’s death last month (Mar17).
Baldwin frequently appeared on The Essentials with Osborne from 2009 to 2011 and a new season of the show will debut next month (May17). Actress Tina Fey, director William Friedkin, and David Letterman will guest host the show with Baldwin.
Former late night host Letterman will join Baldwin for the premiere on 6 May (17) to screen The Bad and the Beautiful, while the actor’s 30 Rock co-star Fey will make her appearance on 24 June (17), when she will discuss Rear Window.
Friedkin will be on hand for The Quiet Man.
“I have some big shoes to fill hosting The Essentials, and I plan on doing Bob proud with this new season of The Essentials,” a statement from Baldwin reads.
Osborne passed away of natural causes at the age of 84 on 6 March (17).
