The former It’s On With Alexa Chung host has come under fire for her skinny figure in the past, and was forced to deny she was an inspiration for girls suffering from eating disorders earlier this year (12).
Now she has lashed out at detractors who focus on how much she weighs, insisting she is not advocating being thin and would love to put on a few pounds.
Chung tells style blog Fashionista.com, “I think it’s about time people stopped judging women on their appearance and more on their intellect, like you can appreciate my style without having to appreciate my weight. It’s not actually mutually inclusive (sic).
“I just get frustrated because, just because I exist in this shape doesn’t mean that I’m like advocating it and saying, ‘I look great.’ How do you know I’m not looking in the mirror and going, ‘I wish I could gain 10 pounds?’ Which is actually quite often the case. But if you say that you sound like you’re bragging that you’re naturally thin, and you’re not allowed to do that because even though it’s not the ideal weight, it kind of is as well.
“It’s not like I’m starving myself, I’m not. This is just how this (her body) is.”
