Alexandra Burke: ‘I’m exhausted in every way’

Alexandra Burke is “emotionally, mentally and physically” exhausted following a difficult year.
The 29-year-old singer has been struggling to come to terms with the death of her mother Melissa Bell, who passed away in August 2017.

She’s gearing up to release her new album The Truth on Friday (16Mar18) and has now admitted that grieving her mother while also working on the record has taken a toll on her general wellbeing.

“I’m exhausted emotionally, mentally and physically and I know it’s because I’m bottling a lot up and I don’t know when I’ll be ready to go there but it isn’t now and because of that, I just keep working,”

Alexandra told Happiful magazine. “I keep saying to myself, ‘One day at a time.’ And all I want to focus on is – yes, the album – but also my happiness.”

Alexandra’s battle with anxiety has also increased dramatically since her mother’s death and has even manifested itself in physical symptoms.

“My symptoms are physical, a fidgety or numb leg, with physical pain in my chest,” she explained.
But the former The X Factor winner is doing her utmost to overcome her anxiety by using natural remedies, and explained: “I use lavender oil, drink lemongrass tea and I spray my bed with a lavender mist.

“I’m a firm believer in crystals as well. I always carry one and have one next to my bed.”
