Alicia Keys and Emily Blunt among Variety’s Power of Women honourees

Singer Alicia Keys and actresses Emily Blunt and Tina Fey are set to be honoured at Variety’s Power of Women: New York celebration.
The ladies will be feted for their philanthropy, with Alicia recognised for her work through her non-profit Keep a Child Alive, which helps those affected by HIV in less developed countries.
The Devil Wears Prada star Emily will be applauded for her support of the Malala Fund, the educational organisation established by young activist Malala Yousafzai, and comedienne Tina will be feted for her work with children’s literacy group Reading is Fundamental.
They will be joined at the 13 April (18) event by The Handmaid’s Tale author Margaret Atwood, honoured for her ties to the Canadian Women’s Foundation, and women’s rights activist Tarana Burke, the founder of the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct.
“At this extraordinary moment in time, when women are speaking up and finally being heard on significant issues, we are honoured to celebrate these amazing individuals for their professional and charitable contributions to the culture,” says Claudia Eller, Variety’s Co-Editor-In-Chief. “Through their work, these women are making an impact that will inspire future generations.”
Those saluted at last year’s (17) event included actresses Blake Lively, Jessica Chastain, and Audra McDonald.
