Alison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs to honour Mel Tillis at public memorial

Musicians Alison Krauss, Ricky Skaggs, and Jamey Johnson will help to celebrate the life of late country veteran Mel Tillis at an upcoming public memorial in Nashville, Tennessee.
Relatives of the Good Woman Blues singer have invited fans to take part in a special service at the Ryman Auditorium on 31 January (18), when a host of stars will honour his memory onstage.
Mel’s children, fellow artists Pam Tillis, Sonny Tillis, and Carrie April Tillis, will also perform, alongside Ray Stevens, Brenda Lee, Larry Gatlin & the Gatlin Brothers. His old band, the Statesiders, have signed on for the free event, too.
Tillis passed away in Florida on 19 November (17), after a long battle with ill health.
The 85-year-old was laid to rest in Clarksville, Tennessee.
