All eyes on Britney

Britney Spears has made her share of media appearances lately, and with the kind of response her name elicits, she’s only just begun.

The latest hoopla includes her award from Cosmopolitan magazine: the Fun Fearless Female Award. The Associated Press reports Spears attended a luncheon in her honor on Monday with her mother, Lynne Spears.

She’s also been in the headlines for expressing her desire to go back to school.

The pop star was home schooled since age 9. When asked about the possibility of ever attending a university, she told the New York Daily News, “It’s funny you should ask, because I’ve really, really been thinking about doing that.”

But before enrolling in school, Spears seems busy enough promoting her new film Crossroads, which hits theaters next week. Could it be the songbird’s scholarly inspiration stems from her role as Lucy, a straight-A student and singer?

Her Mouseketeer training has taken her this far, but we’ll have to wait to see what the box office says about her acting abilities.

Of course, we can’t forget–in the midst of all this attention–the recent “generational” glam of her Pepsi ads that debuted Sunday during the Super Bowl.

Pepsi’s official Web site offered visitors a poll to vote for their favorite generation. Results showed the 1950s doo-wop spot was Spears’s hottest and most requested, taking 46 percent of the almost 42,000 votes. Not to mention the 83 million viewers tuned into the Bowl that saw the commercials.

That’s a lot of eyes on Britney.

Last but not least, Spears could be seen on NBC’s Today show twice this week: Tuesday and this morning, interviewing with Katie Couric.

Although Couric didn’t get too rough asking the questions and Spears didn’t get too specific in her answers, it was clear Spears was just doing her job: being in the spotlight.
