Allison Mack allegedly tried to recruit fellow actress for sex cult

The Sixth Sense actress Samia Shoaib has accused sex trafficking suspect Allison Mack of attempting to recruit her to join a controversial cult.
Mack, a former castmate on TV series Smallville, was arrested in New York on Friday (20Apr18) and indicted on a string of counts amid allegations suggesting she was second-in-command of the NXIVM collective and a sub-group called Dominus Obsequious Sororium (DOS), in which women were forced to perform sex acts for their male masters.
She is said to have worked as a recruiter for leader Keith Raniere, convincing women to join what they called a female empowerment group from February, 2016 to June, 2017, although she has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Now Shoaib has come forward with claims suggesting Mack, 35, had targetted her as a potential new recruit after meeting at a TV audition in 2013.
Samia tells the New York Post she was inundated with emails from Mack, who tried desperately to be her friend.
One message read, “Is there anything you have read that you can send to me? I would love to get into your brain a bit?!”
They met up twice in the month after their paths crossed, and Mack would repeatedly invite Shoaib to attend gatherings for a Nxivm-affiliated group called JNess.
Claiming she was always “very vague” about the purpose of the gatherings, Shoaib recalled, “(She would say), ‘It’s a bunch of women. We go on a retreat upstate, and we share our experiences and support each other.’ That was about it.”
However, Mack soon stopped contacting Shoaib, now 47, after seemingly losing interest when she discovered how old her new friend was.
Despite the odd encounters, Shoaib insists she was surprised to hear Mack’s name linked to sex trafficking claims.
“I wish I could tell you alarm bells went off, but they really didn’t. She was a very sweet girl…,” she told the Post. “I did not get any sexual vibes from her at all. It’s so hard to see her as a sinister character.”
Mack was remanded in custody following her indictment on Friday.
Raniere, who was arrested in Mexico last month (Mar18) and extradited to the U.S. to face charges of sex trafficking and forced labour counts, was also indicted on Friday, although a date for his arraignment was not set.
