America Ferrera is grateful for the support she gets from her fellow mom friends.
The 34-year-old, and husband Ryan Piers Williams, welcomed baby Sebastian last May (18), and Ferrera confessed motherhood made her feel much more powerful as a woman.
“I feel awesome. I feel like motherhood makes me feel all the more powerful and capable and amazing,” she gushed to ET.
And the Ugly Betty star was quick to credit her girlfriends for keeping her sane during the first tentative months after becoming a parent.
“I think that everyone has their own experience (with motherhood),” she shared. “Personally, my girlfriends who are also mothers are my saving grace. Like, I reach out to them all the time to say, ‘How do you deal with this? How did you do this? How did you get back to work? How did you deal?’ Without them, I wouldn’t know what to do.”
However, she confessed she wanted to rely more on her instincts as a mother.
“That said, everyone and their mother has advice for you and you really do, at a certain point, have to use it for what it’s good for, and then let it go and trust your instincts,” she added.
Ferrera revealed she’s been leaning on the “wonderful” support of her fellow actress, Eva Longoria, who welcomed baby boy Santiago back in June.
And the Superstore star heaped praise on the Desperate Housewives actress, and credited her for “breaking down the doors” in Hollywood.
“It’s so wonderful to be able to feel the support of your colleagues, and to know that there is room and space for all of us. There should be room for all of us, and let’s make the pie bigger,” Ferrera explained.
