Angelina Jolie Receives Cambodian Citizenship

Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie has been officially granted Cambodian
citizenship by the Asian country’s King Norodom Sihamoni.

The stunning actress, 30, has been a regular visitor to the nation since 2001
and bought a home in the Samlot district of northwestern Battambang province
shortly after adopting Cambodian orphan Maddox, who turned four last Saturday.

After the country’s Prime Minister Hun Sen approached Jolie last year,
the movie star said she would be “thrilled” and “honored” to receive
citizenship.

The Cambodian government decided to award citizenship to Jolie after she
agreed to spend $5 million setting up a wildlife sanctuary near
her home in Battambang.

Toun Siphan, director of the government’s international relation department,
says, “The King signed the legal papers and that means she now has Cambodian
citizenship.”
