Animal Collective axe July shows over illness

Cult rockers Animal Collective have cancelled all of their upcoming shows this month (Jul13) due to illness. The band was set to play in states including Ohio and Tennessee as part of their tour schedule, as well as two festival appearances this weekend (13-14Jul13), but the gigs have been axed to allow one of the members to recover from ill health.
A post on the band’s page reads, “Due to illness, we will unfortunately not be able to perform our upcoming July tour dates, including the Camp Bisco (in New York) and Forecastle (in Kentucky) festivals. We deeply apologise and tried our best to make it work with an alternate set, but ultimately we didn’t feel like we were giving fans what they deserved from an Animal Collective show.
“We are working on rescheduling the non-festival dates as soon as possible. Again we send our sincerest apologies to fans anticipating these shows, especially considering the cancellations earlier this year.”
The group axed several shows in March (13) citing “sudden illness”. They are next due to play in Portland, Oregon on 6 September (13).
