Anna Faris has opened up about the amount of surgeries her son Jack had to undergo after being born prematurely.
The Mom actress and her now-estranged husband Chris Pratt welcomed their first child Jack nine weeks early in 2012, and the newborn spent a month in an intensive care unit before being discharged.
Jack is now completely healthy, but during a conversation with chat show host Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney on Anna’s podcast Unqualified on Tuesday (30Jan18), Anna revealed Jack had to go through a lot of operations to get there.
“Jack had a few surgeries – he had a few hernia surgeries, he’s had a few eye surgeries and he had a little heart issue as well,” she shared. “When Jack was born two months early, it came as a huge shock and suddenly, your world completely shifts.”
The former couple are now supporters of the Global Alliance to Prevent Prematurity and Stillbirth (GAPPS), and the Scary Movie star is currently working on a fundraising campaign with them.
Jimmy and Molly could relate to Anna’s story as their son William was born with a rare congenital heart defect in April, 2017 and has already undergone two heart surgeries. Jimmy has frequently spoken about William’s health battles on his late night TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Anna praised the presenter for doing so.
“What you guys have been talking about and how vocal you’ve been in terms of the health of your kid and how many people have reached out to me and how you guys have been so passionate about the idea of children’s welfare and what we can do to ensure that all kids and mothers and parents have access to health care – It’s been incredibly moving,” she explained. “I really appreciate how vocal you’ve been. It’s meant a lot.”
Anna and Chris, who married in 2009, filed for divorce in December (17), six months after they announced their separation.
Jimmy and Molly are also parents to three-year-old daughter Jane, while he has two adult children from his first marriage.
