Annalynne McCord: ‘I almost committed suicide in Spain’

A timely phone call from her father stopped former 90210 star Annalynne Mccord from taking her own life after a bad break-up with an ex-boyfriend in Spain. After years of sexual abuse at the hands of boyfriends she urged to be violent with her in bed, the troubled actress found herself in Madrid with one beau shortly after an alleged rape at her home in Los Angeles.
Speaking candidly and emotionally about the moment she almost committed suicide, McCord tells Access Hollywood, “I found someone who would abuse me as much as I’d abuse myself and one time while I was in Madrid… it just hit a little too hard.
“People who are suicidal don’t think one day, ‘Oh, I’m gonna kill myself and they do it,’ they’ve been thinking that for a long time… I would write poetry in Sharpie on my arm and sometimes I would cut and smear my blood into the poetry.”
And then one day, the actress decided to end the pain by killing herself: “I had the pills in my hand and I had the water bottle next to me… Maybe the fact I’m an actress and I’m a drama queen saved me in that moment because I screamed… at the top of my lungs, like, ‘Stop…’ to myself.
“I just released enough to be able to think clearly again and realise I’m not gonna end my life right now, and then my dad called… and I was like, ‘Daddy, I’m in a really bad place, I’m so glad you called’.”
His chat gave McCord the strength to call her older sister Angel and ask for her help.
She adds, “In 17 hours she was with me… We went to Barcelona together and we just breathed together and then I was OK. It never got that bad again.”
