Anonymous sweeps German Film Awards

The film, which starred Vanessa Redgrave and Rhys Ifans, took home six ‘Lolas’ at the German Film Awards, including trophies for cinematography and costume design.

Emmerich’s movie, which questions whether the famed playwright was the true author of his classic works, was the first he has shot in his home country for more than 20 years.

The director has carved out a career in Hollywood with big-budget blockbuster such as Godzilla, The Day After Tomorrow and 2012.

The evening’s top prize, the Golden Lola, went to Stopped On Track, which also took awards for best director, best actor and best supporting actor at a ceremony in Berlin on Friday (27Apr12).
