Anton Yelchin died within a minute of tragic car accident

Anton Yelchin did not reportedly suffer prolonged pain before dying in a freak car accident on Sunday (19Jun16).
The 27-year-old Star Trek actor was found by friends pinned in between his vehicle and a brick pillar at his home in San Fernando Valley, California.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office tells TheWrap.com that the actor did not suffer for long before dying from blunt traumatic asphyxia, saying, “Due to his injuries he most likely died within a minute or so.”
On Tuesday (21Jun16), officials at the coroner’s office also revealed that Yelchin’s death had been officially ruled an accident.
Bosses at Fiat Chrysler, the manufacturer of Yelchin’s car, a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, have also launched an investigation into the incident as the vehicle model was subject to a product recall in April (16).
Officials at America’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigated complaints from drivers stating that the vehicle was at risk of “roll away” crashes due to drivers exiting their cars without knowing they were still in gear.
“The company will be conducting a thorough investigation of this tragic incident. It is premature to speculate on its cause at this time,” a spokesperson for Fiat Chrysler told the BBC.
Before his untimely death, Yelchin was a rising star in Hollywood, with his most notable role coming as Pavel Chekov in J.J. Abrams’ reboot of the Star Trek science fiction franchise.
His latest outing as the character in Star Trek Beyond is due for release in the U.K. and U.S. next month (Jul16).
After news of the actor’s death broke, Yelchin’s castmates paid tribute to him, with Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the films, describing his late colleague as “enormously talented and generous of heart” in a moving tribute.
