The Knocked Up filmmaker’s latest movie, Bridesmaids, which he co-produced, will compete for the Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy prize at the upcoming ceremony, but Apatow admits he didn’t share the happy news straight away.
He explains to People.com, “(It) was my daughter Maude’s 14th birthday, so I didn’t tell anyone in my family about the nomination. I didn’t want to distract from our morning festivities. I thought it would be rude to make it all about me… I’ll celebrate (later) when it’s daddy’s time to shine. The nomination is completely unexpected. It’s very fun.”
