Aretha Franklin to follow David Bowie as New York tribute concert subject

Melissa Etheridge and Heart singer Ann Wilson will be among the stars paying tribute to Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin at a gala in New York City next year (Mar17).
The stars will be joined by Todd Rundgren and Kenny Loggins at The Music of Aretha Franklin concert at Carnegie Hall.
The event will make up the 14th annual Music of… series, which benefits music education organisations.
Organiser Michael Dorf’s 2016 Music of… tribute to David Bowie became a two-night affair after the music legend lost his battle with cancer in January (16). Flaming Lips, Michael Stipe, the Pixies, Debbie Harry, Laurie Anderson, and Mumford & Sons were among those who performed.
Dorf’s previous tribute shows have honoured the music of Paul Simon, Prince, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, and The Rolling Stones.
