The action man-turned-politician stunned Hollywood last May (11) when he confessed to fathering a lovechild with their maid, Mildred Baena, 14 years prior.
The revelation prompted Shriver to file for divorce after 25 years of marriage, but Schwarzenegger is still holding out hope he can make things right and get his family back together again.
During an interview on U.S. breakfast TV show Good Morning America on Monday (01Oct12), he said, “I’ve had a good relationship with the kids. And I’ve had a very good relationship with Maria, but it takes time to rebuild the trust again… I’m doing everything that I can to work on that because I want to get them back together again because I think we were such a terrific family…
“I’m sure Maria doesn’t say that, but I’m sure Maria wishes that we all could be together and I definitely wish that we could all be together.”
No matter what happens, the 65 year old promises not to turn his back on his now-teenage son Joseph Baena: “I will look at him as a son and I will take care of him financially, and also Mildred.”
