Artist Clinton De Menezes mourned at funeral

Artist Clinton De Menezes has been buried in South Africa a week after he was shot dead at a New Year’s Eve (31Dec13) party in Durban. The star, who was born in Johannesburg but lived and worked in London before emigrating to Kenya last year (13), was shot dead after armed robbers burst in on a house party where he was ringing in 2014 and celebrating his first wedding anniversary with his wife and friends.
Menezes, 43, who exhibited his work in galleries across London and at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, has since been hailed a hero as he was reportedly shot while trying to protect a friend from one of the gunmen.
His funeral took place in Durban on Tuesday (07Jan14) and was overseen by the same priest who officiated at his wedding.
