Actress Vanessa Hudgens’ boyfriend Austin Butler has landed the coveted role of half-human, half-elf Wil Ohmsford in a new adaptation of Terry Brooks’ bestselling Shannara books. Butler will lead the cast in an upcoming MTV series based on The Elfstones Of Shannara, the second title in Brooks’ series.
The young Carrie Diaries star will share the screen with Poppy Drayton, who will play elven princess Amberle in the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Brooks’ popular Shannara series debuted in 1977. He has written more than 25 books.
