Bar Refaeli awarded damages in Israeli electronics lawsuit

Supermodel Bar Refaeli has won $113,270 (£75,530) in a breach of contract lawsuit filed against bosses at an electronics company in her native Israel. The Sports Illustrated stunner featured as a spokesmodel for Suny Electronics, the Israeli agent for Samsung cell phones, in a 2006 photoshoot, but she launched legal action in 2010 amid claims she had been filmed in unflattering poses during a shoot and that the images were used without her knowledge in a live Internet broadcast and in theatre advertisements, which were not specified in her contract.
She initially demanded $1.25 million (£833,330) for breach of contract, invasion of privacy and damage to her reputation, and on Wednesday (16Oct13), she was handed victory in the case.
However, Tel Aviv Judge Avi Zamir ruled that Refaeli’s original claim was excessive and instead awarded her significantly reduced damages.
