Barry Manilow calls off Louisiana gig over storm threat

Barry Manilow has called off a concert in Louisiana after officials declared a state of emergency due to severe storms. The veteran crooner was due to perform in Baton Rouge on Wednesday night (29Jan14) but the show was axed after Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal issued a warning about severe snow and wintry weather, and warned citizens to stay indoors.
Manilow’s gig at the Baton Rouge River Center has been pushed back until 3 February (14), and the singer has apologised to disappointed fans.
He says in a statement, “I’m sorry that we’ve had to reschedule, but feel better knowing that everyone will be home safe and sound… I’d like to thank everyone at the Baton Rouge River Center… and my own cast and crew for working so quickly to re-arrange schedules to make the February 3rd concert possible.”
