Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Zoolander 2 look set for an embarrassing night at the 2017 Golden Raspberry Awards after landing eight nominations each.
The superhero movie, which was critically mauled upon its release last year (16), was nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Prequel, Remake, Ripoff or Sequel, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Actor for Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill at the annual awards, which ‘celebrate’ the worst of the year’s movies.
Jesse Eisenberg also earned a dishonorable mention for Worst Supporting Actor, Zack Snyder for Worst Director and Ben and Henry for Worst Onscreen Combo.
Zoolander 2, which was released 15 years after its predecessor, was nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Prequel, Remake, Ripoff or Sequel and Worst Actor and Worst Director for Ben Stiller.
It also made the shortlist for Worst Supporting Actress for Kristen Wiig, Worst Supporting Actor for Will Ferrell and Owen Wilson, and Worst Onscreen Combo for Ben and Owen.
Other Worst Picture nominees include Dirty Grandpa, which had six nods, Gods of Egypt, Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party and Independence Day: Resurgence, which all earned five mentions.
Remaining nominees for Worst Actor include Gerard Butler (Gods of Egypt and London Has Fallen), Robert De Niro (Dirty Grandpa), Dinesh D’Souza (Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party).
Worst Actress is a battle between Megan Fox (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows), Tyler Perry (Boo! A Madea Halloween), Julia Roberts (Mother’s Day) and Naomi Watts and Shailene Woodley for The Divergent Series: Allegiant.
The shortlist for Worst Onscreen Combo also humorously includes Johnny Depp and his costume in Alice Through the Looking Glass, the entire cast of Collateral Beauty, “Any two Egyptian gods or mortals” from Gods of Egypt, and Tyler Perry and his wig from Boo! A Madea Halloween.
Batman and Zoolander‘s competitors for the Worst Prequel, Remake, Ripoff or Sequel title are Alice Through the Looking Glass, Fifty Shades of Black, Independence Day: Resurgence and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
The ‘winners’ will be announced on 25 February (17), the night before the Oscars.
