Julia Louis-Dreyfus diagnosed with breast cancer

Actress and comedienne Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been diagnosed with cancer.
The Seinfeld star broke the health news to fans in an uplifting tweet on Thursday (28Sep17), revealing she’s determined to fight the disease with the support of family and friends.
She writes: “1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today I’m the one.
“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”
Fans and followers immediately filled up the actress’ Twitter pages with messages of support with one devotee writing: “The thoughts and love of millions are with you!! You’re an amazing, strong woman and you can power through this…”, and another adding: “Sending love and support from a fellow #Northwestern alum. Please know you have millions out here pulling for you!”
A third fan tweets: “If laughter is the best medicine, cancer has no chance when it comes to you!”
Celebrity friends and fans have also tweeted their support, with Debra Messing and cancer survivor Christina Applegate among those reaching out to Julia.
“J sending all my healing energy your way. You are incredible to use this moment as an opportunity to support others. Thank you. Much love,” Messing writes, while Applegate writes: “Mama, find me. Let’s talk if you want.”
The health news comes just 11 days after Louis-Dreyfus made Emmy Awards history in Los Angeles earlier this month (Sep17) with her sixth Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series win for Veep, becoming the star with the most wins for the same role.
The show also picked up its third successive Outstanding Comedy Series prize.
The hit political comedy is to end after its upcoming seventh season, which will premiere in 2018.
