BBC kills show after host adlibs Jackson comment

The BBC yanked a repeat broadcast of its entertainment news show Liquid News after guest host Iain Lee made off-the-cuff remarks about Michael Jackson‘s relationship with children during the live broadcast Friday evening, Britain’s Guardian newspaper reported today.

A BBC spokeswoman told the newspaper, “On reflection, some of the remarks in the live show were deemed unsuitable for repeat. These things do happen in live television.” Although The Guardian commented that Jackson‘s lawyers were expected to demand a tape of the show to determine whether the remarks were defamatory, Jackson has been loathe to file suit against personalities who have made similar comments in the U.S., presumably because he does not wish to reignite controversy over his personal life.
