“Bedroom” performs well

In limited release in four relatively small New York and Los Angeles art
houses, the critically praised drama In the Bedroom opened
strongly, earning $95,000 between Friday and Sunday.

Continuing to
perform astonishingly well was the French film Amélie,
which took in $2.3 million at just 217 theaters over the five days.

Edward BurnsSidewalks of New York, which opened to mixed
reviews a week ago, widened its release to 99 theaters, where it
generated about $713,000.
