Behemoth stars detained in Russia

The stars of heavy metal group Behemoth have been held in Russia over allegations they were travelling with the wrong visas. The Polish rockers were in the country for a tour when they were detained for questioning by immigration authorities, prompting them to cancel a concert, according to lead singer Nergal, real name Adam Darski.
Darski spread news of the band’s troubles by posting a message to fans on the group’s Facebook.com page on Wednesday (21May14).
The note reads, “We’ve been stopped by the immigration services for ‘wrong visas’. When I said that we will not move an inch from the club without someone from the Polish embassy, they threatened to force us out. They took us in a bus, accompanied by 10 officers, to the building of Federal Migration Service. We tried to reach Polish embassy in Jekaterinburg but no one is answering the phone. If possible – please copy this message and pass it everywhere you can… The concert is off for sure. The only thing we want is to get back to the hotel safely and then – to Poland.”
He later returned to the social networking website to give an update, revealing the rockers are facing a court appearance and possible deportation.
Darski adds, “Looks like it’s going to be a normal arrest. They’ll take our phones soon. At 9am we’ll have a court case, then a judgement and maybe a deportation.”
The incident comes just weeks before the band is due to play at Britain’s Download music festival in June (14).
