Ben Affleck checks into rehab

Looks like another young star is having some problems.

Pearl Harbor star and Oscar winner Ben Affleck voluntarily checked himself into a live-in rehabilitation facility Tuesday for alcohol abuse.

The facility, Promises, in Malibu, Calif., is where both Robert Downey Jr. and most recently, Paula Poundstone are undergoing treatment and has treated other celebrities including Christian Slater and Tim Allen.

“Ben is a self-aware and smart man who has decided that a fuller life awaits him without alcohol,” Affleck‘s publicist David Pollick told The Associated Press on Friday. “He has chosen to seek out professional assistance and is committed to traveling a healthier road with the support of his family, friends and fans.”

Affleck has been a busy boy in the last year. He played a recovering alcoholic in Bounce, starred in the big blockbuster Pearl Harbor and will next be seen in the upcoming Kevin Smith film Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, which he costars with good friend and producing partner, Matt Damon. He also recently wrapped the action film The Sum of All Fears, taking on the role of Jack Ryan, made popular by Harrison Ford.

He and Damon also are producing the reality show The Runner for ABC and Project Greenlight for HBO.
