Benjamin Bratt signed up for Despicable Me 2 film to impress kids

Actor Benjamin Bratt jumped at the chance to join the cast of animated family film Despicable Me 2 in a bid to impress his children. The former Law & Order star, who has also recently appeared in TV comedy Modern Family and medical drama Private Practice, stepped in at late notice to replace Al Pacino after the veteran quit the film in May (13), and Bratt admits the opportunity to make his daughter Sophia and son Mateo proud of dad was his main motivation for signing up for the project.
And his efforts voicing the loveable Eduardo and villainous El Macho have paid off.
He tells Los Angeles’ ABC7 network, “Dad is definitely the ‘cat’s meow’ at this point, and they (kids) are usually not impressed at all, ever, with anything I do – I’m just ‘Dad’ to them – but I got ’em now, I got ’em!”
