Benny Medina shuts down attempted rape accusation

Jennifer Lopez’s manager and production partner Benny Medina has vehemently denied attempted rape allegations made against him by actor Jason Dottley.
Medina became the latest public persona to be accused of sexual misconduct on Friday (10Nov17) when Dottley detailed an alleged encounter between the pair in December, 2008 to The Advocate.
In the article, Dottley, who was married to TV writer Del Shores at the time, claimed he met Medina in a bar in West Hollywood while he was out with his Sordid Lives: The Series co-star T. Ashanti Mozelle, and the three of them headed back to the manager’s Los Angeles home.
Dottley told the publication Medina led him to a bedroom after enjoying a swim in his pool, and forcefully threw him on the bed, before allegedly climbing on top of him and pinning him down, prompting the actor to break down in tears.
He was able to escape after Mozelle “burst in the room”, although Dottley also accuses Medina of sending him a threatening text to keep him silent days later. He ended up keeping the purported attack a secret from his loved ones, including his then-husband, but eventually shared the secret with his manager Renee Bailey.
Now attorneys for Medina, who has also worked with Will Smith and Mariah Carey, have issued a statement shutting down the accusations, insisting the mogul “categorically denies the allegation of attempted rape”.
Hollywood figures like Brett Ratner, Kevin Spacey, and Louis C.K. have been among those to come under fire for alleged actions from their past ever since disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein was hit with multiple claims of sexual harassment and abuse following a New York Times expose in early October (17).
