Bert Newton back at work after heart scare

Beloved Australian entertainer Bert Newton has bounced back from his heart surgery last year (12) by heading out on a gruelling tour Down Under in the Grease musical. The 75 year old TV star was hospitalised in Melbourne in November (12) after complaining of chest pains, and surgeons decided to perform an emergency quadruple heart bypass.
He underwent a six month rehab period at home but now he’s returned to work playing Vince Fontaine in an Aussie tour of the hit musical, which will kick off in Brisbane on Sunday (25Aug13).
Newton tells the Sydney Morning Herald, “Around this time last year, I wasn’t in good health. The average age of the cast in the show, if you take me out of it, is about 22. The energy and excitement is quite contagious. I like people of my vintage but it’s important to have a few young people around you too. And that’s why I’m liking this show.”
