The film, which stars Dame Judi Dench, Celia Imrie, Bill Nighy and Dame Maggie Smith, knocked Daniel Radcliffe’s The Woman In Black from the number one spot on its second week of release, grossing $3.8 million (£2.4 million) in takings.
The creepy thriller, which recently became Britain’s highest-grossing horror film, is in second place with $3 million (£1.9 million), followed by Reese Witherspoon’s action comedy This Means War, which is a new entry at three.
The top five is rounded out by Safe House at four and The Muppets at five.
