Best TV Kisses

Nick and Jess on 'New Girl'
Nick and Jess on 'New Girl'
FOX
'New Girl' writers had teased a Nick and Jess kiss throughout the entire episode (not to mention an entire season-and-a-half) but we finally got what we'd been waiting for when he planted a passionate smooch on his friend/roommate's lips and declared that that is how he'd wanted to kiss her all along. We hope this is just the beginning of even more sexy, sensitive kisses between these two.

Meggie and Father Ralph on 'The Thorn Birds'
Meggie and Father Ralph on 'The Thorn Birds'
ABC Television Network
This was really the will-they-won't-they-couple kiss that started them all. The forbidden kiss between the forbidden pair on the beach made Father Ralph question everything he wanted in life and left TV fanatics hankering for more.

Jim and Pam on 'The Office'
Jim and Pam on 'The Office'
NBC
They have a couple of them. Their first lip lock — after Jim finally declared his love for Pam and went for it with a lovely, unexpected kiss — was the cliffhanger kiss to end them all. Their wedding kisses (both the one on the Niagara Falls boat and back at the church) were just as wonderful and romantic.

Mulder and Scully on 'The X-Files'
Mulder and Scully on 'The X-Files'
FOX
The truth is out there: even if 'The X-Files' tricked viewers with a fake-out kiss the first time around, Mulder and Scully eventually played real tonsil hockey and it was totally worth the wait.
5
Ross and Rachel on 'Friends'
Ross and Rachel on 'Friends'
NBC
Ross had been in love with Rachel since high school, so when she started to have feelings for him, too, it was only a matter of time before they smooched. Once Julie was out of the picture, Ross showed up (in the rain, of course) at Central Park to win Rachel with a kiss and sweep her off her feet. Even if they had a tumultuous relationship throughout the series, he's always her lobster.

Sam and Diane on 'Cheers'
Sam and Diane on 'Cheers'
NBC
These polar opposites were meant to be (no matter how crazy they drove each other) and truly set the gold standard for every will-they-won't-they duos on television. Their love-hate relationship lead to a kiss that encapsulated that very essence. After getting into a slap fight, Sam asks Diane, "Are you as turned on as I am?" and lays one on her.

Niles and Daphe on 'Frasier'
Niles and Daphe on 'Frasier'
NBC
The sexual tension between Sam and Diane on 'Cheers' was so scorching that it rolled right over into its spin-off series 'Frasier'. Frasier's brother Niles only had eyes for Daphne, his father's live-in aide. For years he pined from afar, but finally mustered up the courage to kiss her after they heat up the dance floor. It wasn't the kiss that turned them into a couple, but it was the one that made us root for their eventual union.

Jack and Kate on 'Lost'
Jack and Kate on 'Lost'
ABC Television Network
Sure, the spit swapping session between Kate and Sawyer in the cage was arguably much hotter (it was) but that doesn't mean she and Jack didn't have some incredible kissing chemistry of their own. Besides, it was these two who were meant to be together for the long haul, which was pretty evident when they finally locked lips on that crazy lil' island.
9
David and Maddie on 'Moonlighting'
David and Maddie on 'Moonlighting'
ABC Television Network
Unlike a lot of the other characters on this list, David and Maddie were a sure thing. The sexual chemistry between these two radiated through the screen and there was no detective work necessary, any fan could just tell their first kiss was going to be electric. They were right.

Pacey and Joey on 'Dawson's Creek'
Pacey and Joey on 'Dawson's Creek'
WB
Ah, young love between a young man and his best friend's ex-girlfriend. Now, technically Joey had to reluctantly kiss Pacey for Dawson's movie, but their second kiss was the real deal. Joey was still in love with Dawson, but she eventually wound up with Pacey and looking back at this kiss, you can see why.
11
Luke and Lorelai on 'Gilmore Girls'
Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson, Gilmore Girls
WB
How did you know these two would go down in TV couple history? Even their names were an homage to another soap-y couple. The back-and-forth between Luke and Lorelai set the stage for a Season 4 smooch that was as anticipated by eager fans as it was tender and sweet.
