Bette Midler is about to fly solo.
On her sitcom, that is.
The actress, who when we last checked was still happily married on her new CBS sitcom “Bette,” has become husband-less as of last week, Reuters says.
Actor Kevin Dunn, who played Midler‘s hubby Roy on the show, has left the series, the show’s publicist said Tuesday.
While no reason was given for his sudden departure, the parting is said — in typical Hollywood parlance — to be amicable.
“It was a mutual decision between him and the producers,” publicist Beth Haiken was quoted in saying.
Dunn‘s appearance will continue until the 10th episode of the show, but word is that CBS will be on the hunt for a replacement husband.
POLITICAL MANEUVERING: Every housewives’ favorite talk show guru Oprah Winfrey will interview Jean Carnahan, widow of late Missouri Gov. Mel Carnahan, for a show set for a December air date, The Associated Press reports.
Here’s a bit of a recap if the name escapes you: The late Mr. Carnahan died in a plane crash in October while running for the U.S. Senate and had posthumously won the office. Mrs. Carnahan has since accepted the appointment on behalf of her late husband.
THE TUBE LIFE: The Hollywood Reporter says that actor William H. Macy and his writing partner are currently developing a drama project for CBS.
Titled “Put-in-Bay,” the series is about a multi-generation family who has lived all their lives in a small Ohio town. The series will star Macy’s wife, Felicity Huffman (“Sports Night”), with Macy himself taking on a recurring character.
