Blake Shelton based fiery promo on real-life blazes

Country star Blake Shelton based the storyline for his new music video on real-life events after nearly burning down his own home twice while attempting to pull off romantic gestures for his wife Miranda Lambert. The promo for Doin’ What She Likes features the singer lighting candles all over his house and scattering rose petals on the floor for a night of passion, but his plans are ruined when one of the flames sparks a fire.
Shelton admits he didn’t have to brainstorm too much to come up with the promo’s plot.
He says, “There’s some truth to that video, because I have actually set our property on fire two different times trying to do like, a good thing, and turns out to be several hundred acres (burning down)… One time it took three days to put the fire out…”
Shelton, who wed fellow musician Lambert in 2011, failed to share further details about the blazes, but insists they never got him in trouble with local police in their hometown of Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
He adds, “It’s my land, they don’t care.”
The song and its video have already proved hugely popular – Shelton broken chart records in America this week (beg31Mar14) by scoring his 11th number one on the Billboard Country Airplay countdown.
