Blondie & Bob Geldof join Amnesty International benefit

Blondie and Bob Geldof have been added to the line-up of performers at next month’s (Feb14) Bringing Human Rights Home Amnesty International concert in New York. The two acts will join Lauryn Hill, Imagine Dragons and the Flaming Lips among those hitting the stage at the Barclays Center benefit, while organisers have announced actress and activist Susan Sarandon will host the event and Amnesty International stalwarts Peter Gabriel and Sting will deliver pre-taped video messages during the show.
Announcing his participation, Sting says, “More than 30 years ago, we loosened apartheid’s grip by taking to the stage for the first round of Amnesty International human rights concerts. There’s still a lot of work to be done and Amnesty International is the right place to start.”
Sarandon adds, “Nowadays, with so much technology at our fingertips, we can break down prison walls with the click of a mouse if we work together. The Bringing Human Rights Home concert will mark the beginning of a new movement and if you believe your rights are worth defending, I encourage you to be there.”
