The Beverly Hills, 90210 star, 39, was diagnosed with a rare blood condition, which forced her to spend the final three months of her fourth pregnancy on bed rest at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles – but she feared she had lost her baby when she first realised something was wrong at home.
Spelling had spent the night sleeping with her four-year-old daughter and when she woke in the morning she realised she had lost a lot of blood.
She tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, “We were sleeping together and I woke up in the morning and (there) was a lot of blood; I stumbled to the bathroom, scared and woozy, and I got there… and I had to wake up Stella, so I screamed for Stella and she came and I said, ‘You gotta go and get daddy,’ and she looked and I saw her eyes widen and she said, ‘OK mommy,’ and she ran.
“(Husband) Dean (McDermott) came in, he took one look and he said, ‘OK… we’re gonna head to the hospital now’… We alerted everyone (and) made sure the kids were being taken care of.”
Looking back, she fears the drama may have scarred her daughter for life: “I’m always devastated to think that that’s what she remembers… There was just blood covering the bathroom.”
The mum is now fully recovered and she has a healthy baby boy, Finn, to show for the drama. The latest addition to the family was born on 30 August (12).
